  • Designer Adam Ladd, asked his 5-year-old daughter her impressions on some popular logos. I kind of want to have a 5-year-old consultant on my next identity design project.

Now it’s so obvious that we don’t need anymore “cheetah” logos.

maybeedmonton: This is definitely one of my new favorite Edmonton finds!

“Progressive Guitar-Rock from 1970 [Troyka was a Ukrainian rock band from Edmonton]. Combined with photos from in and around Edmonton, Alberta in the year of ‘68. Long time ago, man ! Photos from yesterday when we where young.”

  • While making good use of a trial membership to ancestry.ca, my dad discovered that we are closely related to the founders of The Hohner Music Company. In his internetz searching he found some pretty cool old sales materials for the company. I’d love to track down a copy of this metal sign.

  • As a Canadian I’m not sure if this campaign is characteristic of Amtrak or not. Either way, I love it. It’s refreshing to see a reference to old travel posters that doesn’t steal borrow the aesthetic so heavily that all you see is nostalgia.

  • I absolutely adore these ads from Draft FCB for The Shelter Pet Project. It’s so refreshing to see a departure from the typical get-the-kleenex-ready approach. More ads here.

  • Moving to Vancouver!
It’s about time I had a postal code that didn’t start with “T”. Darcy is already packed (ask him about his boxes labeled “bands you’ve never heard of” and “thick black glasses”) and living in Vancouver. I’m heading out mid-month to start my new job at Blast Radius. As soon as we find a place to live, we’ll be set. Speaking of that, do you know any places we could live?

  • Seeing this image today on Reasons to be Cheerful was mind blowing for me. Every time i see a remanent like this of the ‘old days’ it stuns me. What did they do without ⌘-Z?
